This is not the first time John Laidlaw, of Wherrol Flat, has delivered groceries to drought affected farmers.
He has made regular drops to the Nyngan area and on July 20 he arrived in Gunnedah with the car and trailer loaded up.
After dropping off most of the goods he remembered the Daily Telegraph story about a young family in Bugaldie who were becoming the face of the drought in this area.
With his remaining groceries he headed to Bugaldie where he stopped at ‘The Duke’ and spoke to the Canham and Frazer families, asking how he could contact the Taylors. Seeing the quantity of groceries they did a ring around to local families including the Taylors. From that small load about 15 families gratefully accepted the donations.
When John left he said he would be back.

“True to his word he arrived again last Friday with the trailer, car and rooftop box loaded with donated goods,” said Bugaldie local, Anne Fosdick.
The hall quickly filled and word went out letting locals know to call in on Saturday for a cuppa and to fill a box.
“We had around 20 people call in and we encouraged them to pack a box for their neighbours, too, whether they asked for it or not,” Anne said.
“Even after this we had a large amount left over. After some thought we contacted Greg Jerry at Borah Creek and he came and collected 10 boxes of groceries that would be delivered in that area.”
The community were overwhelmed with the amount of donations. John, who is volunteering alongside of Sandra Wilson of Pampoolah with ‘Doing it for our farmers’, put the call out at his local Coles supermarkets in Wingham and Taree.
The volume of donations they receive each week from locals and Coles has not decreased so he has been able to help farmers in Nyngan, Scone, Gunnedah, Bugaldie, Borah Creek and wherever they are needed.
“We are truly thankful to John, Sandra, Coles and the Wingham and Taree communities for their donations,” Anne said.
