Staff and students came to school dressed as farmers for a gold coin donation.
On the back of a cake stall and other donations, $2100 was raised.
The day coincided with a mass to recognise Saint Mary MacKillop’s feast day.
Teacher Natasha Brotherton said students are inspired by Mark MacKillop to help farmers in need.
“As her motto says ‘never see a need without doing something about it’,” she said.
Teachers have noted students have shown genuine concern for farmers and are dedicated to raising funds.
Raising funds and awareness of the drought is the school’s focus for term three.
Other activities will include a candle drive, raffle, kindergarten egg sale, non-perishable item drive, a ‘country calendar’ and ‘bogan bingo’.
The initiative will wrap up on the last day of term on Grandparents Day where the school will host a bric-a-brac sale.
The school is hopeful of raising at least $5000 by the end of the term.
