The dragon boat club is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary and spokesperson Trish Paff says the plan is to bring together past and present paddlers for a celebratory dinner in Taree on October 13.
The club formed in August 2008 in response to the decision of Ted and Yvonne Towers to test community interest in dragon boat racing. The community responded positively and then with the help of Dragon Boats NSW, the club was formed, got its first boat and coaches and sweeps were trained.
Ten years on the club is an established identity in the Manning Valley community, its members have competed at events all over the world, with some members selected to represent Australia in international competition.
The anniversary dinner will be at The Exchange Hotel in Taree. RSVP is by phone to Mrs Paff on 0468 545 934 or by email to david.paff@bigpond.com
