For year 12 students preparing to sit their final exams, a comfortable break-out space away from home is now available at Forster and Taree libraries, each Wednesday from 5 – 8pm commencing this week, July 25 and continuing through to August 15.
The free study evenings provide HSC students with exclusive after-hours use of both Taree and Forster libraries, as well as free printing and photocopying, internet computers and wi-fi, and light refreshments.
“Making the libraries accessible is an opportunity to support our local HSC students, and the study evenings have proven to be extremely popular in past years,” Chris Jones, MidCoast Council’s libraries manager said.
“Our libraries offer a quiet, stress-free environment for both individual study, and for students to meet with friends for group study sessions.”
In addition, each study night will commence with a free mindfulness and meditation session, designed to assist students in creating a calm, organised and focused mind as they head into study mode.
“There’s no doubt preparing for the HSC can be overwhelming and stressful, so offering the mindfulness exercises at the beginning of each study night will help students make the most of their session in the library,” Chris said.
The skills learned through the mindfulness and meditation sessions will not only benefit the mental health of students through to their final exams, but provide a platform to carry them forward into their next life stages.
To take advantage of the free study evenings, students can simply turn up from 5pm.
Bookings are required for the free mindfulness and meditation sessions, and can be made by visiting www.midcoastlibraries.com.au.
HSC study evenings have been running in the MidCoast region since 2011, and are part of MidCoast Libraries’ commitment to supporting students through their final year of high school study.
