Members welcomed State MP, Steve Bromhead and his wife Sue back to the range for an excellent afternoon’s shooting.
The Bromheads, who are both club members, shot in the F standard B-grade and put in a good performance with Sue winning the day on 100 with five centres over Steve’s 92 with two centres. Quite a convincing win indeed.
However, back in the ranks of target rifle A-grade the club records continue to tumble. Mal McKenzie, fresh from competing in the NSW Champion of Champions, put in another flawless performance to finish with a double possible of 100 and 12 centres to win A-grade. McKenzie also toppled the club record for the score at 400 metres second stage with a blistering 50 with 10 centres – this is a perfect score.
Jim Blackmore and Tony Moon both finished the day on 98 however Blackmore was ahead by 2 centres.
Andrew Geary continues to shoot consistently solid scores in Target Rifle B Grade with a first stage of 50 with 4 centres and a final score of 98 with 5 centres.
In target rifle C-grade, Craig Laurie is showing improvement every week. Laurie, who recently changed from F Class to target rifle, has received some valuable coaching advice from some of the club’s best shooters and the results are starting to show in his scores with a total this week of 84 and two centres.
In the F Class divisions, Chris Barnard continues to dominate F Class A-grade to win on 117 and 10 centres. Returning to the range this week was the club’s own ‘Travelling Wilbury,’ Robert Bartlett, who has returned from a four month 17,000km trip competing in open prize meetings from Darwin to Bendigo and all stops in between.
The ranks of F open class were boosted with week with new member Roden Lohse attending together with Ray Handsaker who has recently been away working. However, Christina Adams took home the win in F Class open with a final score of 109 and seven centres.
Next week shooters move to the 500-yard distance.
