The group has collected monetary donations from the public this past week at Taree Central, Valley Cafe and Aldi Taree as part of an appeal for the wives and children of drought affected farmers in the Walgett area.
Funds will then be collated and distributed as vouchers to be used at local stores in the town.
Taree Quota’s Debbie Steber said streams of people have visited their stalls to offer support and provide generous donations.
“Taree has been so generous and supportive.
Money is important but it’s the fact that people care and are genuinely interested.

“We’ve had big donations, with some people walking up to us and dropping in $50.
“It will make a huge difference,” Mrs Steber said.
Donations are placed inside an upside down umbrella to signify the sign of distress.
Mrs Steber said the community has shown “genuine care and concern for women and children on the land.”

“People love the fact that the money is circulating in the drought affected community,” Mrs Steber said.
But their job is not done yet.
The group will venture to Wingham next Friday, July 27 where they will collect donations at Wingham Newsagency from 9am and outside of Coles Wingham from noon.
Mrs Steber said all Taree Quota members have been happy to assist.
“To us it’s empowering and heartening and as our motto says ‘we share’,” Mrs Steber said.
Meanwhile, an item collection drive at Wingham has taken off.
The project has been spearheaded by Pampoolah’s Sandra Wilson and supported by John Laidlaw.
After just two weeks, the response has been overwhelming.
Boxes and shelves at Mr Laidlaw’s Wherrol Flat home have continued to fill up as shoppers donate essential items such as toiletries, cleaning products, baby supplies and food.
The items will be dispersed in Gunnedah and Coonabarabran.
Shoppers can donate to the cause at Coles Taree from next Wednesday, July 25.
Many businesses and organisations across the Manning are staging their own drought relief appeals.
