At about 2.40pm on Wednesday, July 18, officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District detected a Queensland registered motor vehicle driving at high speeds on the highway near Johns River.
A police officer attempted to stop the man but was unable to do so and a pursuit was initiated.
The man attempted a U-turn and in doing so collided with a northbound vehicle.
The man, his passenger and the driver of the northbound vehicle were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The man was guarded in hospital overnight before being released on Thursday, July 19.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with numerous offences including Skye’s Law (failing to stop in a police pursuit and driving recklessly or dangerously) and will face Taree Local Court at a later date.
The police officer involved in the pursuit was not injured in the pursuit and has been praised for his efforts.
