Firstly it was a visit to the Branch by those who provide pamper packs to the women’s refuge.
For those with nothing, that pack of toiletries and little gifts, can be a new beginning.
The first need of most is a toothbrush and paste.
We found that that group do lots of other things as well.
Knee rugs, some for the House with No Steps, others for anyone in need.
Children’s jumpers, lots of beanies.
They just enjoy the joy of giving.
The next overwhelming display came from Quilters Inc.
Quilts, by the dozen, on display at our group day in Taree.
Every size for every need.
Beautiful squares for every bed in palliative care in the hospital, tiny cuddle wraps for the police, when they have to deal with a distraught infant.
The children get to keep their tiny wraps.
If this group know of a need they will fill that need.
On display also were Angel Gowns.
Those tiny robes made to dress still born babies.
They are exquisite, the decoration would put any wedding dress in the shame.
Many are made from donated wedding dresses as that is fabric suited for these delicate dream gowns.
Minute, but perfect.
Women are so creative, groups have a skill and soon they find a way to use their creative skills for the benefit of others.
Who would have thought that a small bright quilt could make a policeman’s life easier?
Muhammad Ali once said: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
The rent is paid in advance by many women in this community.
Next we enjoy the enlightening study of another country.
Poland has been a great study as it’s history involves so much of the story of Europe. The country’s greats are known to all: musician Chopin, scientist Marie Curie.
This is a country that has survived many wars and boundary changes.
We are a lucky country.
