Earlier today detectives from Manning Great Lakes Police District attended a home in Tinonee and spoke with the man.
He was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.
The 24-year-old man was earlier this month, June 15, arrested at a house in Taree after Hawkesbury Police Area Command detectives executed a search warrant and seized a mobile phone which police allege contained thousands of sexually explicit images and videos of young females.
The man was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with several offences including, use carriage service to solicit child pornography, possess child abuse material, threaten to distribute intimate image without consent and aggravated sex assault- victim under the age of 16 years.
Police will allege in court a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted after the man began online relationships with teenage girls and began sending private messages.
He was granted conditional bail after appearing in Taree Local Court on Monday, June 18.
Police investigations into these matters continue.
Police would like to remind young people of the following tips when using social media or the internet:
• Do not send a picture of yourself to anyone you don't know and never place a full profile and picture anywhere on the internet.
• Never give out your personal information, including full name, home address, phone number or school, over the internet.
• Never arrange a face-to-face meeting with someone that you have only ever chatted with on the internet.
• Tell your parents or another adult you know of any contact that makes you feel uncomfortable.
• Think carefully before uploading or sending images or videos to people over the internet. Once you press ‘send’ it’s definite and final – you can’t get it back or take it down.
