Their popular banger snagged first place in the poultry section of the 2018 NSW/ACT Sausage King and Best Butchers Burger Competitions for the NSW Mid North Coast on June 7 held at Coffs Harbour TAFE.
It’s the second year in a row the spinach and pine nut variety has placed first in the Australian Meat Industry Council regional awards.
Scott Kelly and his team at the Isabella Street butchers are delighted with the win and equally happy to have nabbed two other awards in the competition.
Their pork sausages with Parmesan and truffle placed second in the gourmet/open class section and their beef sausages with wild mushroom and garlic were closely behind in third.
The champion chicken and pine variety will now proceed to the State final, held in September, to determine the finest sausage and burger makers in the State.
Winners will be announced in October and state winners will then proceed to the National Sausage King Finals being held in Perth in February 2019.
They’ll be competing against other state winners and vying for Australia’s ultimate title of Sausage King and Burger King.
