Sisters Chris Willey and Leonie Gilford narrowly came out the winners this year against Coral Lockrey and Lorraine Parnell. Chris and Leonie dropped a five on the eighth end, gathered themselves to put on a three in next end to make it 9/15, followed by two fours on the 13th and 14th ends finishing off with a three pointer to take the win 21/18.
The match did not disappoint with Coral and Larraine leading most of this match 15/9 on the 12th end, when the tide changed on the last end 18 all when disaster struck with Coral’s bowl not behaving itself coming into the tight head thus moving it to the opposition.
Spectators sat glued to this match until the end when applause erupted on its completion. Congratulations to both teams who displayed good sportsmanship in their match.
This week
This week is our very popular event – the Greg Owen Triples. There will be no social bowls on this day.
Special mention
Ladies, we do need helpers on Thursday June 14 at 8am to move and set up some tables please. If you can, could you bring a slice for the morning tea. Club opens at 8.15am for a great day of bowling and catch-up of friends from around our District and morning tea. Don’t forget ladies, we bowl to the yard stick to decide the winners at the end of this day.
See you on the green.
