What prompts a person to want to sit in a room between people who are warring with each other?
If you ask Megan Lewis, director of The Resolution Network and a nationally accredited mediator, you might be surprised by her answer.
“So often when we’re in a dispute with someone else we get caught up in the angst and anger,” she said.
“It becomes all-consuming and we stop listening. Through the mediation process, I can support people to stop and actually talk with each other,” she added.
Megan sees a common thread running through mediation sessions.
“I can’t tell you how often one person’s said to the other in a mediation, ‘I didn’t realise that was the case,’ I thought, ‘life’s too short to spend it caught up in conflict with another person.’”
Megan completed her formal training as a mediator after 20 years in communications and established The Resolution Network in 2014 with Rosemary Lembke.

As the largest private practice mediation business on the mid north coast, it’s been a gradual process of getting the word out there about mediation and how it can help businesses, families and communities.

“Not long after setting up The Resolution Network, I was invited to give a short talk at Rotary,” explained Megan.
“The person introduced me saying I was there to share with the group some interesting insights into meditation and the art of staying calm.
“For a moment I thought ‘oh no, I’m at the wrong meeting’ and then we all had a bit of a laugh as we realised what a difference a “t” makes.
“I did explain though that through the work we do we definitely try to help people stay calm as they work through their differences.”
