The day, which was full-on, was held at Port Panthers with guest speaker Kay Sonderland from Museums Australia. Approximately 25 persons were present coming from Lismore, Tamworth, Trial Bay Goal Museum, Wauchope, Camden Haven, St Thomas Church Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie Regional Museum, Kempsey, Maritime Museum at Port Macquarie, Roto House, MVHS Museum Wingham and Tinonee Museum.
Many examples were shown on what can happen to objects that are not properly stored or displayed and some excellent tips and hints were gleaned from the day. Lighting was another topic which created much interest.
After lunch, ABC radio broadcaster Cameron Marshall called in at the workshop and had his microphone and camera handy. The workshop was free and supported by Museums Australia which was very much appreciated.
Get well wishes
Great to hear that Tinonee Historical Society member Ray Cluss is recovering well after major surgery, is back home and resting under the TLC of wife Judy. We hope Ray’s recovery continues successfully and he is soon able to be ‘back on deck’ at the Museum with his fellow members.
The next meeting of the Museum will be held on Thursday May 24 and all members, including our three new faces and other interested persons will be able to attend, starting time of the meeting at the Museum is 7pm.
Rattletrap event
John and I drove to Crowdy Head early Saturday morning to take a look at the Rattletrap event staged on the sands and surrounds of Crowdy Bay. There was a huge crowd there even at 9am.
Cars of every vintage and some motorcycles were lined up along the waterfront from the Harrington side of the surf club almost to the Crowdy Bay boat ramp. I would imagine crowds would have numbered in several thousand by the end of the day.
We were able to see many wonderfully restored vehicles and I had my camera working overtime. The weather was perfect except for the wind but no one seemed to mind.
Mother and daughter craft evening
From all reports the craft evening held Friday May 11 at St Matthew’s Fellowship Hall was an outstanding success with in excess of 50 women attending. Several different crafts were shown and demonstrated including card making, Kknitting and chocolate making.
