The areas that are being targeted by contractors, on behalf of MidCoast Council, include the section of Farquhar Street between Bent and Wynter Streets, and another section in Wynter Street that extends from Farquhar to Isabella Street (the southern and eastern roads abutting Central Park).
The scope of the project includes patching and rectifying the road pavement by applying a 30mm asphalt overlay, providing a smoother and safer driving surface that improves the amenity of Wingham’s town centre.
The work will be carried out during the week commencing 7 May, finishing with line marking on Friday 11 May.
“Using an asphalt overlay in this busy part of Wingham’s CBD will result in a durable finish that will protect the road surface for years to come”, Rhett Pattison, MidCoast Council’s manager, projects and engineering said.
“We’ve developed a concentrated schedule so the work is completed over the course of one week, however there will be some disruption to traffic in and around the area”.
Parking in both sections will be restricted while the work is carried out, and clearly marked detours will be in place to direct traffic around the work sites. Motorists are asked to observe all roadworks signage, and directions from crews. Minor delays can be expected at times.
