Today we commemorate Anzac Day and later this year the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1. I know many friends and family members will observe this important day in Australia’s history. I hope all my readers get to pause and pay respect to those brave men and women who have served our country over the years to give us what we enjoy today.
MVHS War Cabinet unveiling
I represented Tinonee Historical Society & Museum at the unveiling of War Cabinet at MVHS last Tuesday morning and I was very impressed with the work done. Congratulations to all involved and i look forward the completion of stage 2.
Coming of age
Congratulations to Jake Sullivan, son of Terry and Lisa Sullivan of Tinonee, who turned 21 at the end of last week and celebrated with a party on Friday night. Neighbours were advised and I must say it was rather a well behaved party as I didn’t hear anything from our place just a short distance away. Hope you had a great time Jake and all the best for your future.
Condolences and sympathy
Condolences to the members of Wingham CWA Branch and the Wingham Brush Club who lost a long time member with the passing of Kaye Hoad April 14. Kay’s graveside service was on Friday, April 20, at the Wingham Cemetery. I got to know Kay through her Wingham CWA membership and my Wallamba CWA membership.
Fashion parade
I joined fellow Tinonee & District Red Cross member Alma Murray, at Wingham Red Cross Branch’s Ashlea Road fashion parade at Wingham Services Club’s last Saturday, along with about 50 other ladies. Six models strolled the catwalk in winter fashions. After the parade an afternoon tea and three guests won raffle prizes while another won the lucky door prize - a gift voucher for Ashlea Road. Funds raised on the day will be added to the 2018 Red Cross Calling fund. Thanks go to Wingham Branch members for a pleasant afternoon.
Tinonee Mother’s Day market
Don’t forget to pop along to Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall’s Mother’s Day Market this coming Saturday, April 28, from 8am to 1pm with something for everyone especially mum’s and grandmothers. The hall committee will be serving delicious Devonshire teas and sandwiches and there will be a raffle to raise funds. Thanks to all in advance for their support.
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to friend Jan Hayden who celebrates on May 2. All the best from your family and friends Jan.
