I was asked by the Wingham RSL to take photos of the short jeep journey by RSL members Brian Willey and Rhonda Delaney on Thursday morning at 9am.

The travelled in John Cooper’s 1944 model Jeep, from The Log in Central Park to the Wingham Brush School, where they were to conduct the Anzac Day Service at the school. John’s daughter Lee Oberg, and her young daughters Lauren and Gemma, were on hand to see their grandpop and his jeep.
I also had the pleasure of attending the Tinonee Public School Anzac Day Service. The wreath that was laid at the foot of the school’s flagpole was later transferred to the Tinonee Memorial Hall’s Honour Rolls by the captains and vice captains guided by teacher Mrs Carter.
It was a little disappointing more parents weren’t able to attend to support the students in this important service, but it is hoped they will encourage their children to be part of Taree’s Anzac Day march.
Commonwealth Games
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games have been and gone with congratulations to the athletes who performed so well, including the Australians who broke so many records with their huge haul of gold, silver and bronze medals.
Daughter-in-law Sharona and my niece Kelly, who were both volunteers at the shooting and track events, had an experience of a lifetime and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the games.
Another young lady, Anna Muldoon, daughter of Cheryl and Bryson Muldoon of Tinonee, has worked for the Paragames/Olympics for a number of years.
She has been all over the world, and was pleased to be involved with the organisation of para athletes during their time on the Gold Coast as they competed in the Commonwealth Games.
Tinonee Public School News
Well Term 1 has finished and went out with a bang when the school held its own Commonwealth Games activities and enjoyed special themed treats from the canteen, on Friday, April 13,
Last Thursday morning, I had the pleasure of representing the Tinonee & District Red Cross branch at the school’s Anzac Day service.
The service was conducted by the school captains and vice captains in a very professional and respectful manner.
As well as the school service, Tinonee Public School students will take part in the Taree Anzac Day march.
The students are to meet on the corner of Taree High School at 9.15am on April 25, for the march to the Memorial Clock.
A total of 49 students went to the Netball Gala Day at Taree Netball courts. Despite the extreme heat, they did very well at the games played throughout the day.
Tinonee Mother’s Day Market
Planning is well in hand for the upcoming Mother’s Day Market which will be run by the Tinonee Memorial Hall committee on Saturday, April 28.
There will be something for everyone from more than 15 stallholders. You are sure to find something special for mum. Funds raised will be used to continue the maintenance and upkeep of our 100-year-old community hall.
Tinonee Museum visit
Ten students and their carers, from Taree High School’s Special Education Unit, paid a visit to Tinonee Museum on Wednesday morning, April 11. They had a great time looking at the exhibits and even got to try out a few of the items. After touring the museum they had a look around Tinonee, including a visit to Tallships Reserve.
