HUNDREDS of people are expected to gather in Wingham on the morning of Wednesday, April 25 for the dawn and main Anzac Day services to mark the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915.

They will also be there to pay tribute to, and remember, all Australians who served and died in war or during service.

Community groups, school children and returned service personnel will muster at 9.15am outside Wingham Memorial Services Club for the main march to the Wingham Memorial Town Hall.

The Wingham RSL Sub Branch is calling on all veterans, ex service men and women to join their comrades in the 2018 Anzac Day commemorations.

“Anzac Day remembers all Australians who have fought and served,” said Wingham RSL Sub-branch vice president Ron Irwin.

The significance of the commemorations on Wednesay April 25 will be reflected in a number of special and symbolic activities at the dawn service as well as the main march and service.

Ron said a visit to the honour rolls situated in the open foyer of the Wingham Memorial Town Hall demonstrates our local willingness to play our part, particularly in the WW1, but in all subsequent conflicts.

"We are aware that there may be a number of veterans and ex-service personnel who, for personal reasons have not attended the local commemorations.

“We would love to have you with us. You would be among friends and those who have had similar experiences of military life,” said Ron.

Participants

Australian flags of remembrance and sprigs of rosemary will be available from 3pm for those wishing to place the flag in remembrance on a loved one’s grave site.

All very welcome to attend this solemn service completing at sunset.

Wednesday, April 25

Participants

On completion (approximately 6am) there will be the Gun Fire Breakfast at Wingham Services Club.

The main march will be from Bent Street to Wingham Memorial Town Hall.

Parade Marshalls are Glen Gilford, Brian Willey and Ron Irwin.

Anzac Day service will be completed at about 11.15am

On completion there will be a Diggers Lunch at Wingham Memorial Services Club.

All welcome at any of the 2018 Anzac services being held in Wingham.

Be prepared: There is limited seating at the venues so please be prepared to bring some seating, umbrellas for sun/rain and water to sustain yourself and especially for children.

Wet weather: In the case of inclement weather the Dawn and Anzac Service will be conducted in the Wingham Memorial Town Hall.

Special note: Ex service personnel are asked to attend and take part in all events and wear dress jackets and medals. For those wearing medals for another these are worn on the right side and your own on the left side.

The Wingham RSL Sub-branch has issued a special invitation to all locals schools to participate in the Wingham Anzac march and service on April 25.

Schools are asked to muster at 9.15am by the Big Log near Anzac Place on the corner of Bent and Farquhar Streets opposite the Wingham Museum.

March will commence at 9.45am.
