The much-needed rain finally came and here at Tinonee we recorded 220ml in our gauge, enough to give the yard and gardens a good soaking. There was enough to fill tanks, dams and small streams as well as the mighty Manning, and it even brought out a crop of mushrooms on our lawn.
Vale Alan Stuart Cox
Alan Stuart Cox, a long time resident of Kimbriki, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, March 19, two days short of his 78th birthday. Left to mourn are loving wife Lillian and step-children Michael and Nicole and Ian and their children. He will be sadly missed by his extended family including cousin Helen Bennett of Tinonee, and his many friends. Alan’s funeral was at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Wingham, on March 23, conducted by Rev Brian Ford, followed by a private cremation. Donations were accepted for Cancer Council Australia.
Easter Church Services
Services over Easter at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Tinonee: Good Friday, 7.45am, (a reflective non communion service); 7.45am Easter Sunday with communion; Maundy Thursday at St Matthew’s Church Rectory, Wingham, at 6pm; A BYO Easter picnic and games at St Mark’s Marlee at 12.30pm, Easter Sunday, followed by a Holy Communion service at 2.30pm.
Tinonee Public School
Harmony Day was celebrated last Friday with a number of activities including a large tree backdrop with cut-outs of the student’s colourful hand prints added to it as a symbol of all belonging together. This was followed by a surprise disco in the school hall.
On Monday, the boy’s cricket team played their match at Forster, which follows on from a win against Nabiac Public School. The Tinonee lads scored a very creditable 193 runs off 25 overs. Great bowling and fielding from Tinonee saw Nabiac bowled out for 55 runs. Well done to all on a great effort.
The P&C annual meeting was on March 20, with the following committee elected: president Tammie Tan, first vice president Jason Ryan, second vice president Clare Rourke, secretary Kellee Coe, treasurer Donna Stirrup, assistant treasurer Michelle Lewers, and fundraising Ellie Day. Unfortunately the Uniform Shop co-ordinator position remains vacant and it is hoped someone will put themselves forward. Currently there are nine financial P&C members and more parents/carers are welcome to join with membership of just $1, which gives you voting rights at meetings.
To all my readers and their family have a happy and holy Easter and may it also be a safe one for all.
