Members of both clubs will vote on whether they wish their clubs to amalgamate on Sunday, March 25.
Voting will be open from 10am to 1pm on the day at both clubs.
WAG members are concerned that the possibility of two of Wingham’s iconic sporting clubs electing not to amalgamate will place at risk the “vibrant” in the group’s vision - and in Wingham generally.
“It is our sincere concern for the future of our community, assets and commercial competition that causes WAG to publicly appeal to the members of these two clubs to vote yes for amalgamation,” stated the release.
WAG members believe a yes vote will ensure the survival of lawn bowls and golf in Wingham with bowls greens, golf course, a jointly owned community and social ‘country club’ with bar and catering, and a centrally located Wingham Memorial Swim Centre in the vacated Wingham Bowling Club site.
They said this would be be a win-win-win-win result for bowlers, golfers, swimmers, families and the overall benefit of the community of Wingham and the hinterland.
Bowlers discussion
