The Queen’s Baton Relay reached the Great Lakes on Friday, February 2, with a number of batonbearers from across the region carrying it through the Forster area.
Warren was selected to be a batonbearer due to his top sporting history as a hurdler.
“My achievements paled into insignificance with some of the people there,” said Warren.
Handing the baton to him was Dixie Ingram (nee Willis), one of WA’s greatest runners who competed in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
Warren handed the baton to 12-year-old swimmer Camden Ceccato, nominated for his sporting achievements and influence as a volunteer in the community.
Cheering Warren on from the sidelines was his wife Eileen as well as some friends from Wingham and from as far away as Bendigo.
“It went exceptionally well,” said Warren.
