You’ve done it Taree.

The Taree Blood Centre needed a minimum of 135 donations to avoid a shortage of blood over the Christmas and New Year period and the community has responded with 183 donations.

Blood service spokesperson Jemma Falkenmire thanked the community for their involvement.

“Much of the shortage came from the absence of regular donors who are away or too busy to donate, and we’d also like to thank the 32 donors who have donated blood for the first time.

“Of critical importance was platelet supplies, vital for cancer patients to continue life-saving chemo treatment.

“We were able to maintain a constant supply to these patients throughout the festive season,” Jemma said.
