The 800 yard range was the challenge for this week's Club Championship round of competition. Conditions were relatively good for most of the afternoon. However, for some shooters their second stage varied from slight wind, glaring sun that produced boiling mirage, followed by cloud cover and a cooling breeze – all in one 15 minute time frame!
Most shooters were happy with their final scores for the day and many added precious points to their yearly tally in the Championships. The only possible of the day was shot by Jim Blackmore with a second stage of 50 with four centres to secure the outright win in Target Rifle A Grade over Tony Moon.
Andrew Geary shot two excellent stages to finish the day with a total of 98 with five centres in Target Rifle B Grade. Geary is consistently shooting A Grade which will no doubt see him join the top shooters in A Grade in the next competition year.
Gordon Higgins continues to improve in Target Rifle C grade and posted a total score of 92 with five centres for the afternoon and also won the handicap event.
In the F Class division Christina Adams took home the win in F Open over visiting shooter Brendon Roods. Robert Bartlett nudged out Tony Galati in F Standard A Grade by just one centre and junior Ronan Moon continues to dominate the F Class B grade winning the day with a total of 111 and three centres.
Full scores for the day were:
