Wingham Akoostik Festival will celebrate it’s 10th birthday with three days of music from October 13-15 at Wingham Showgrounds.
The Manning Valley’s favourite family-friendly music event boasts yet another huge line up of world-class entertainers including:
Friday night: Scott Darlow, Josh Needs and Bad Pony
Saturday night: Kasey Chambers, Russell Morris and Eurogliders and many more acts throughout the day including Twin Peaks (Canada), Minnie Marks and Ralway Bell (WA)
Sunday: Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper, Dom Turner and USA’s Nikki Brown in the Turner Brown Band as well as James Bennett, the Kava Kings, Eagle and the Wolf and Sara Tindley
Bill Chambers will perform at the festival opening party on Thursday October 12 at Bent on Food.
The plans for the first Wingham Akoostik Festival were laid in 2006 with the first festival held in 2007 in Central Park.
Today a committee of eight volunteers are assisted by more than 100 others who help out over the festival weekend each October.
The organisers have created a relaxed and friendly festival vibe which attracts a growing following.
”It’s not too crowded, families feel safe and good things happen,” said event coordinator Donna Ballard.
“We are creating a vibrant local community where music, art and culture take centre stage and locals are engaged in delivering the event and showcasing all the unique creative elements of this valley.
