Thirty players entered this event and the prizewinners were taken from a draw from the hat of the teams that won. This resulted in ‘lucky’ Jack Pie and again Jay Nicholson taking home the big money by defeating the O’Donnells-Claudia and David 18-15. The Burnell-Jones’s Stan and Leslie were runners up with their 26-18 victory over the Rolfes-Dennis and Lorraine.

It was 19 all on the final end in the battle between Dallas Hammond playing with Elaine Holden up against the Gilfords-Leonie and Glenn on Sunday morning in good playing conditions. On five ends the scores were even with Dally and his partner able to pick up four shots on two of the ends, but the opposition did win the most ends. The victors now enter the semis.

Glen and Laurelle Dennes got away to a good start against Bob Hardy and Marcus to lead 12-1 on the eight end and the Dennes’s were ahead by 12 shots on the 14th end. But from there on Bob and Pat clawed their way back to be only four shots behind with the final end to be played.

However Glen and Laurelle won the final end to finish 18-13 in front and now go to the semis also.
