Swings completed
Council workmen completed the replacement of the new swings in Horace Dean Park, Tinonee at the end of last week. I am sure youngsters and parents will be grateful for them.

A huge soft base area has also been included so hopefully there will not be any accidents should a child fall off them. Thanks Council, and well done on the replacement.
Wingham Bonnie Scottish Festival
I was one of the many locals and visitors who attended the Scottish Festival on Saturday in Central Park. The weather looked threatening but held off for the day and organisers should be pleased with how it all went.
Although I don’t have Scottish heritage I always enjoy this event seeing the bands, caber tossing, tug-o-war and the parade of Clans with their tartans and banners.
Central Park is such a great venue and easy to get around, I’m sure this year there were many more stalls.
The two mounted police horses with riders Barry and James were so patient as people came up to admire and pat them.
Clan Cameron Chieftain James Lachlan Cameron looked like he was having a good time amongst the many Camerons of the Manning District.
I caught up with lots of people I knew and had my camera taking lots of memories from the day.
Congratulations to the organizers on another successful event.
Cundletown Museum’s opening
Although not able to be present for the official opening ceremony of Cundletown and Lower Manning Historical Society’s new pavilion Sunday morning I did however make it around 12 midday staying until they closed (a little early due to rain arriving) at 2.00pm.
Margaret Love and her team of members and workers are to be congratulated on the perseverance and determination to make the building become a reality – the many exhibits are wonderful and will bring back so many memories to visitors.
Kokoda Youth Challenge
Our nine-year-old granddaughter, Keala accompanied by her dad Andrew, participated in the 2017 30 kilometre Kokoda Youth Challenge at Mt. Nebo in Queensland on Saturday, successfully completing the course, which had begun at 8.00am, a little after 3.00pm.
We have been told there were a lot of youngsters in both the 15km and 30km challenge with adults taking part in challenges of 60km and 98kms.
John and I are so proud of Keala but disappointed we couldn’t be there to watch her cross the finish line (John wasn’t able to travel yet after his hip replacement) but we hope to get up soon to visit the family.
Nautical Family Afternoon Tea
Don’t forget St. Luke’s Anglican Church’s Nautical Afternoon Tea in Tinonee on Monday June 12 from 2.00pm taking place at the church in Winter Street. The cost is $10 per person and families are welcome.
