A special hello to all the mums out there. I hope you all had a super Mother’s Day on Sunday and that you enjoyed a lot of pampering from your families. You all deserve it. I used to chuckle to myself when I was teaching and we discussed the work the children’s parents did. Yes, dad went off to work most days but when it came to mum she just stayed at home all day. There was no mention of mum’s taxi, what happened to the mess left in the house when the kids left for school, how the dirty clothes suddenly became clean again, etc. I’m sure they thought mum just rested and watched TV all day.

I received a pleasant surprise on Friday last as I drove along Nowendoc Road to Wingham. All of a sudden the high grass at the edges of the road disappeared and I could see the oncoming traffic and around the corners. I hope this improvement will be continued all the way along the verges of the road because then if we get any rain the water will have a much better road so driving will be much safer in even more ways. It will make it easier for the school bus drivers, too, as the smaller, infant class sized children’s heads will be more easily seen as they wait to be be picked up.
The social calendar for this month in Mount George is winding down. All we have left, to my knowledge, would be our first Bingo night at the hall on Friday night. Doors open at 6pm and it’s eyes down and games won at 6.30pm. Don’t forget your plate of goodies for supper and to bring along your chosen beverage to keep yourself hydrated as you watch over your cards so you don’t miss out on any numbers and thus go home empty handed.
After the excitement of the bingo on Saturday, May 27 there will be the Caffrey’s Flat dinner dance at Mt George Hall. Ring Lola for more information on 6550 7593.
I presume the markets will be held in the hall between now and the end of the month.
I’m sure that if you ring Christine on 0457 16994 or Narelle on 6550 6528 they will know for sure what’s happening.
