The Tigers and Old Bar sit on 27 points, two clear of fifth placed Port Macquarie. However, the Sharks will be favoured to beat Port City this weekend and move a point clear of the Pirates and Wingham going into the last round. To finish third Wingham would need Port Sharks to lose this weekend and then beat Old Bar. The Tigers would then have to defeat Port City in the last round.
However should Port Sharks win over Port City third place will be determined at Old Bar on Saturday August 16.
The side finishing third will play either Wauchope or Macleay in the preliminary semi-final on Sunday August 24.
Wingham's list of wounded includes lock Matt Bartlett, hooker Tyrone Owen and halfback Mitch Steel - the club's Newcastle contingent - along with prop Ben Welsh and centre Tim Bridge.
All except Bartlett are expected to be available for the match against Port City while Bartlett should be right for the opening week of the finals series.
