He was speaking as his side prepares to meet Kempsey Saints at Kempsey tomorrow. The Warriors are in last spot and trail ninth placed Old Bar by five points.
Bevitt laments that his team had ample opportunities to defeat competition front runners Wallis Lake last week, but failed to take advantage. In the end Wallis Lake won 3-1.
He said that's been typical of their games in the last month.
"We're just not putting the chances away,'' he said.
"And that's costing us.''
Wingham hasn't won a match since beating Old Bar on May 17. Since then the Warriors have slumped to last after at one stage appearing a chance to push for a top five berth.
Bevitt said victory tomorrow was 'paramount.'
"This is our D Day,'' he said.
Wingham will be at full strength, with Dean Whitlam and Mitch Bevitt both completing suspensions.
