But don’t bother smiling, because the cameras on each vehicle are focussed firmly on our roads and footpaths for the intensive survey of our road and footpath surfaces.
A council spokesperson said knowing exactly where the problems are in our roads and footpaths -- and how severe they are -- really helps Council target areas where repairs are needed most.
The vehicles will make way for pedestrians, and have audible warning tones to let people know they are coming, so keep an eye out, as they keep an eye on our pavements.
