The event was organised by The Garden Clubs of Australia zone coordinator for the region George Hoad. The aim was to bring together club representatives in a friendly, social atmosphere to discuss issues relating to individual clubs, swap ideas and gain a better understanding of the experiences of other garden clubs in the region. “I was delighted with the attendance and enthusiasm shown by representatives on the day, who clearly share a great passion for the well being of their clubs, the local area and gardening in general," George said.
The event was originally planned to be held in George’s quirky country Killabakh garden, but due to the much needed, but ill-timed rain, it was transferred at the last minute to the hall. Each club attending brought a delicious morning tea plate to share and George provided a simple salad and cold meat luncheon. “As the first garden club event of it’s type held in the area, I feel it was a great success, with the aim of building closer ties and creating a strong club network across the region well under way.”
George is now planning a Friendship Day for all Zone Garden Club members to attend later in the year.
