Kick off for Tigers

GROUP Three Rugby League pre-season champions Wingham will tackle Port Macquarie in the opening round of the season on Saturday, April 26.

This will be the only Saturday game played in the first week.

The match will be at the Wingham Sporting Complex.

Wingham will welcome back front rower Logan Polkington to the side after he was forced to miss the semi-final and final of the pre-season due to a facial injury.

The Sharks went down to Wauchope in the first round of the pre-season but scored a resounding win over Taree City in the plate competition.

All other first round games will be played on Sunday, April 27.

Forster-Tuncurry will host Taree City, Wauchope meets Port City while Macleay Valley will be at home to Old Bar Pirates.

This will be Macleay's first official game in Group Three.

The Mustangs, under coach Willie Lockwood, were runners up in the pre-season competition and will play home games at Verge Street.

Meanwhile long serving officials Michael Clarke of Taree and Geoff Kelly from Port Macquarie have been made life members of the Group Three Junior Rugby League.

The life memberships were awarded at the Group Three season launch held at the Wingham Services Club.
