Tinonee Public School, Taree Public School, Chatham High School, Forster Public School and Pacific Palms Public School will join more than 900 schools across NSW to have all classrooms and libraries air conditioned.

Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said student and staff comfort is paramount to success in the classroom. 

“I’m pleased that schools in our local community, including Tinonee Public School, will benefit from the Cooler Classrooms fund.

This is part of the government’s continued commitment to providing environments where our students and teachers can best succeed,” Mr Bromhead said.

School principals are encouraged to apply to the second round of the fund, which will open on the first day of the 2019 school year.

Solar panels and ‘smart systems’ will be installed alongside the air conditioning units so schools can offset their additional energy use and efficiently heat and cool their schools.

Air conditioning will be installed in all new and upgraded schools during the next four years.

“Every one of our 170 new and upgraded schools like Old Bar Public School, including more than 2000 new classrooms will also receive the new sustainable air conditioning systems,” Education Minister Rob Stokes said.
