I was fortunate to win a double pass to the NSW state government-sponsored Seniors Christmas Concert at Taree’s Manning Entertainment Centre on Friday, attending with friend Helen Bennett. The centre was not quite full but there were many folk who had a wonderful time entertained by Peter Cousens, and his lovely daughter Daisy, and Darren Coggan. I mustn’t forget the great musical talent of Lindsay Partridge on the baby grand piano.
Many thanks to Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead, for securing the concert for the seniors of the Manning/Great Lakes.
Paint job for St Luke’s
Following the Sunday morning service, congregation members moved the furniture to make way for the painter, who was to commence work on Monday. It is expected the job will take approximately two weeks, weather permitting, to complete. As a result there will be no services at St Luke’s on Sunday, November 26, and December 3.
Wingham Anglican Parish Christmas Dinner
A very happy group of about 60 folk, including several youngsters, attended the St Matthew’s Ladies Guild Christmas Dinner on Friday evening November 17. The feast of cold meats and salads followed by the traditional home made Christmas pudding, custard and ice-cream were delightful. Jan from St. Luke’s took home one of the beautiful baskets of fruit along with two others from the parish. Many thanks to the hard working Guild Ladies for a delicious meal and to Judy Taylor who organised the pass the parcel game, which gave most people a small gift.
Tinonee School
Not many weeks left of term four and it will be busy times for both teachers and students as they prepare for elections of the incoming captains and vice captains. Those standing for the positions present their speeches this week. Tuesday, November 21, was the year six fun day which has become a special time for those students going on to high school. They raise funds for their farewell gift to the school and I am sure everyone would have had a ball.
The end of year presentation will be on Thursday, December 7, at the MEC. The year six farewell dinner is on Monday, December 11, at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall.
Road works appreciated
Many thanks to Midcoast Council workers for again undertaking pothole patching on the Wingham-Tinonee Road. There were some rather large holes appearing and these have now been filled, making for safer driving on this well used roadway.
