The competition was held as part of the Wingham Akoostik Festival at the Wingham Showgrounds from on October 14 and 15.
Cooper was among 11 juniors who where given a couple different cuts of meat and asked to cook them on little charcoal barbecues on Saturday.
The competitors had assistance with the lighting of the charcoal but most of the work was up to them.
They had to rub the meat with spices and make up their own unique sauce.
It was the first time Cooper had cooked in a competition, so he got a little advice from his dad, who was cooking in the adult challenge over the weekend as part of Country Boys BBQ.
After the judges tasted all the meats, they choose the best ones and awarded the prizes.
Each entrant was able to take home the barbecue they cooked on.
