What a way to begin the last term of the year! The pupils went off to school camp and I’d say they all had a wonderful time as the principal , Mr Falla was looking slightly tired on Wednesday after they returned. He didn’t look as rested as one would expect after only three days back from school holidays. I hope the pupils returned feeling less tired than he looked on Wednesday afternoon.

The time has come for the hall trust to have its AGM. This means that we now have to think of how we want them to proceed for the next twelve months utilising and improving the local hall and what activities we would like to see happening there this year. They are only a tiny group of people who are keeping the hall going with lots of hard work and need our help to bring new ideas up at meetings for discussion. After a while they use up all their brilliant ideas as to what to offer in the way of keeping community interest in this valuable, local asset and how to earn money for its upkeep.
It will not take up a whole meeting to elect a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer from such a small group so they would love you to put on your thinking caps between now and Tuesday, November 28, and come along to offer your suggestions for the things you think will keep the hall a part of the fabric of our village for another year.
Although you may not have the right to vote at the monthly trust meetings it does not seem fair that the trust (comprising of only five members) are left to do everything. They need your input as to what you want to use the hall for. We all have ideas on the activities they come up with and often make comments to our friends as to how good or bad something done or held at the hall was but wouldn’t it be better for all of us to think about this great community asset and how the whole community can help with their thoughts on how to improve and use it? Come along on November 28 at five o’clock and give them lots of new, and also tried and true, ways of using and maintaining the hall for everyone to enjoy so that they have lots of ideas and possible events to discuss for the next twelve months. Help alleviate the burden on the few and assist them with ideas and physical presence when it is needed.
We have all seen how Caffreys Flat hall trust have needed our help in the past few months whilst their hall is out of commission. Do you want that to be the case with our hall, too, or are you willing to make your suggestions for the new people the truest elect from the small band of trustees to do the whole job on their own? Your ideas are as good as, or even better than anyone else’s or than giving no help at all and your skills are needed to maintain the hall just as they are needed with the local reserve which is also asking for community involvement at working bees to help keep it up and running. Don’t let our assets fade away through lack of community input and assistance. Have a think about the old saying ‘many hands make light work for all.’
