A depleted Wingham premier league cricket team suffered a two wicket loss to Wauchope RSL at Cedar Party Reserve on Saturday.

Batting first Wingham posted 182 only for Wauchope to pass that score in the 36th over for the loss of eight wickets.
Dave Rees and Ben Scowen opened for Wingham but Rees failed to replicate last week’s blazing start when caught in the third over for a duck.
Scowen and Brock Hynes then joined in a 78 run stand until Hynes was caught for 42.
Fourteen year old debutant Blake Thompson joined Scowen in the middle and he added six before being run out.
Scowen passed the half century only to give consecutive caught and bowled chances to finger spinner, Bailey Smith, the first being grassed but the second accepted.
Scowen made 58 and was out with the score at 113.
Ryan Morris (26) and Mick Stinson (20) added a further 50 but were dismissed on the same score.
From there the batting failed, adding just 18, as Tony Brown claimed 4/9 for the visitors.
Scowen claimed the wickets of both Wauchope opening batsmen with just 20 on the board and the attack kept the scoring rate in check as Brodie Guppy and Ryan Smoothy chipped in with a wicket apiece.
At the halfway mark Wauchope was 4 for 91 with Josh King and Andy Murrell looking set.
When the total reached 117 part time trundler Robbie Hynes broke through Murrell’s defence, ending a 58 run stand.
Hynes struck again in his next over, bowling King for a well compiled 64. At 6/133 Wingham was back in the match.
However some poor fielding and dropped catches in the poor light proved costly, Scowen having two easy chances go begging in the same over.
Hynes picked up his third wicket by bowling the skipper Matt Day (11) and when Mick Stinson ran out Morgan-Monk for 12, Wauchope needed 23 with 2 wickets left.
Unfortunately for Wingham it was not to be as Hagenbach (17x) and King (12x) saw Wauchope safely home.
The inexperienced Wingham attack performed well with Ryan Smoothy particularly impressive, returning 1 for 25.
Hynes finished with 3 for 38 and is sure to get more bowling in future, whilst Guppy again showed his potential with 1 for 33.
With Dave Rees missing from the attack Scowen and Stinson did well with the new ball.
Wingham has the next two weeks off due to rep matches and a bye.
Wingham’s next match in the Mid North Coast McDonalds Premier Cricket League is against Port Macquarie at the Wayne Richards Oval.
This will be played on November 4.
