Started by Edna Smith in 1992, what began as a handful of ladies meeting together in a private home has grown into a group of 25 current members, with an average of 20 attending each Monday afternoon at the Wingham Baptist Church building.
The women are from different churches across the Wingham and Taree areas and the group truly crosses the generations, with ages ranging from 27 to 86.
The celebration service had the theme ‘Precious Memories, Precious Jewels’ and involved members from the early days sharing their memories, as well as more recent members sharing what the study group means to them.
Women from other local Bible studies joined in the celebrations.
There were even women who had traveled from Newcastle, the Central Coast and Tamworth, resulting in a group of about 50 women celebrating together with music and singing.
The service was followed by an afternoon tea, with the centerpiece being a beautiful cake inscribed with the words of Joshua 1:8.
This cake was cut by two of the original group members, one of whom is still attending.
An offering of $300 was received to support the KYB ministry overseas.
