The majority of comments were negative, calling the waterfall ugly and an eyesore, with many saying the flowforms resembled bed pans, resulting in the nickname “bed pan waterfall.”
Belinda Hansen had a different nickname for it. “Definitely an eyesore it's been referred to as fanny fountain as well,” she commented.
“Looks like someone invisible with a big arse sitting in wet cement going to the toilet,” said Corry Green.

The colour scheme drew a few negative comments, with some saying the look did not suit our heritage town.
“The bush rock and concrete just don't go together,” Rhonda Keegan said.
Some people lamented the destruction of the old Apex waterfall, even though it had been changed to a rock garden some 30 years ago after the waterfall fell into disrepair.
Of the 43 comments, three comments called for less negativity and thanked the volunteers for their work.
“Many thanks to the volunteers putting their time and efforts into making a unique water feature for our town to enjoy. I’m sure it will look lovely when the task is complete. No need for the harsh commentary while it’s still quite obviously a construction site! Let’s not forgot that Wingham is ‘the friendly town’,” Ben Ellis said.

Tony Quinn said, “It is sad to see change but as Apex in Wingham no longer exists there is not much that can be done. The work done still keeps the fountain flowing and some wonderful memories. What a shame that most who are being negative are those that sit on the fence and do nothing but complain.”
“Well, there's a bit of negativity on this fountain that's still not finished. Good on every volunteer – thanks for going out of your way and putting effort and love into our beautiful little town, I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's done!” said Amy-lee Kneebone.
More work is still to be done on the fountain, with plants, paving, and benches to come.
