Club registrar Sarah Taylor explained that good numbers have already been received for the under 10 and under 12 teams, but with too many for one team and not enough for two it is hoped more players can be found for each.
"The interesting thing is that both age groups have now been revamped by Cricket Australia", said Sarah.
"With under 10's now needing only 7-9 players in a team and only seven being allowed on the field at any one time, it makes for shorter games and more runs scored.
“The pitch length has been decreased from 22 metres to 16, meaning that more balls will land on the pitch giving more opportunities for kids to score.
“They will be using a modified soft ball which gives them more confidence if they were scared of getting hit with the traditional hard ball.”
Club president Dennis Smith added that under 12's will now have nine on the field, with pitch length at 18 metres and the traditional smaller but harder cricket ball used in this age bracket.
“With the nature of kids though,11 per team would be better” he said.
“Games in this age bracket will also be shorter and we are looking to advance the cricket skills now in stages. Like every sporting code, it would be good to have two sides - less breaks for the kids and more action which means more fun!”
The under 14 sides (traditionally in year 7 and 8 at high school) and under 16 sides (years 9 and 10) also still have spots available.
If anyone out there knows of any kids who want to play please contact Sarah on 0423 581184.
