Members of Tinonee Historical Society Inc welcomed a visit on Friday last by patron Carolyn Fazio, who is currently visiting from the USA.
Congratulations to Jamie-Lee
Congratulations to 12 year old Jamie-Lee Woolfe, a student of Tinonee Public School, who has been selected in the NSW PSSA Hunter region girls cricket team and will be playing at the state carnival during Term 4 representing the Hunter region.
Not only is Jamie-Lee representing the Hunter but she has also been selected to represent in the Cavaliers Under 15’s girls cricket team at the Country Championships during the second week of the upcoming school holidays. This young lady is doing outstanding things in her chosen sport and mum Helen, dad Ian and brother BJ are extremely proud of her – go and live your dream Jamie-Lee and congratulations from everyone.
Congratulations to Joan Blyth
Well known local Mrs Joan Blyth, will be celebrating a special milestone in her life on Tuesday September 26 when she turns 80 years young. I hear there will be a celebratory luncheon to mark the event on Saturday of the long weekend and I am sure it will be a very happy time spent with her family members and friends.
School news
Term 3 is almost at an end with school holidays beginning on Friday September 22, I am sure students, teachers and staff are all looking forward to the fortnight break.
Orientation has begun for kindergarten students being enrolled in 2018 and this will continue over the next few weeks and into Term 4. If you would like your child/children enrolled at Tinonee Public School please contact the school on 6553 1279.
Long service badges presentation
Wallamba CWA held their September meeting at Estia, Taree on Tuesday 12 and welcomed MNC CWA group president Margaret Breust of Eungai-Stuart’s Point who had the pleasant duty of presenting long service badges to members Betty Bird (currently a resident of Estia) and Norma Flood for their dedicated 20+ years of CWA membership and a Certificate of Appreciation to Iris Cummings for her 43 years of membership with Wallamba CWA Branch.
The morning was also a celebration for Norma whose birthday was September 12 and Betty whose birthday is September 19 so a cake was cut to mark the event during morning tea. Congratulations were also extended to member Margaret Weller and husband Bruce who celebrated 55 years of marriage on September 16.
