Last year Wingham went into the game short-priced favourites, however, Sharks managed to score an upset win in extra time.
It’ll be the same tomorrow, with Wingham again the popular elect and coming off a strong 2-0 win over their grand final opponents in the semi-final.
However, Sharks, under the coaching of 18-year-old Sam Ferguson, believe they can defend their title, while admitting Wingham will take a power of beating.
They’ll look to Kristy Aldridge, Tahni Walters and Rachel Hinton to spark the attack while Linda Ferguson will control play in the centre. Experienced Karina Hogan is a calming influence in defence while Emily McGillicuddy is a top class goal keeper.
But Wingham will be determined to reverse the 2016 result and have form on the board.
This young team finished as minor premiers and had a convincing 2-0 win over Sharks in the semi-final.
Under the coaching of Shaun Fuller and Leanne Yarnold, Wingham have gone from strength to strength.
Goalie Maggie Sky defends with moves worthy of a ninja warrior, with assistance from Paige Conley, MJ Sheather and Oshi Bartlett, are the stalwarts in defence.
The midfield is covered by Kate Nielsen, Abbi Greenaway, Emma Yarnold, Tracey Preston, Jonty Hemmingway and Amanda Green, who move the ball around the field and they hope to keep Sharks on their toes.
Tegan Lynch will also provide invaluable experience in the field and will be there to assist the younger players.
Attack will be the domain of Emily Luckie, Shelby Johnston, Sophie and Ella Hartcher, who plan on making the Sharks defence work hard all game.
With the addition of Jaime Hemmingway, fresh from her selection in the NSW Arrows team, will be a massive boost. Hemmingway has already enjoyed a successful season and a local premiership will cap a great year.
The match is timed to start at 4.30, before the division one men’s fixture.
The women’s grand finals will start tonight with the division three match featuring Taree West and Town from 6.30.
Sharks and Town will clash in the division two match at 1.30.
