There is plenty of golf coming up starting with August 26 being a stableford for the Wingham Cellars trophy. On Saturday September 2 an Irish 4BBB will be played for Father’s Day father and son trophies, and on September 8 the Taree Toyoto Monthly Mug will be contested.

On Tuesday August 15 the ladies played a stableford event for the Margo’s Boutique trophy. The winner was Robyn Dudgeon with a great 43 points. Division One winner was Jan Ditton 39c/b, from Kathy Knapp. Division Two Dot Clarke 38.
The NTP were on the third Trish Wootton for Division One, Narelle Smith for Division Two, on the seventh Trish Wootton Division One, Dot Clarke Division Two, Sue McKenna Division Three. Ball winners L. Dennes, C. Gates, S. McKenna, J. Surtees, P. Whiteley, S. Bartz, N. Smith, B. Bisby.
On Friday there was much excitement when Wingham won the Assef Bowl in a competion that is played between Wingham, Taree and Forster which has been played for the last 50 plus years.
Wingham last won the bowl 15 years ago – not bad considering the ladies average between 20 and 30 players and 12 went to Taree and beat the bigger clubs. Well done.
On Wednesday August 16 the vets played a stableford event. The winner was Tom Hadwell 41 points, next was Mike Roach 39c/b from Alex Kees 39. The OBE winner was Lionel Fell. The Sharp Shooters winning the nearest the pins were on the 3rd/12th Jim Bradshaw, and on the 7th/16th Ces Pedron.
The Thursday LJ Hooker Chook run was played with 40 players. The winner was Ian Scarr 22 points, next was Leslie Steel 21 c/b, Dave Elliott 21c/b, Ian Herd 21c/b, Rod Brown 21, one-under par, Cameron Potts 20. Allan Mudford won the nearest the pin on the third, Rod Brown was the winner on the seventh.
Friday August 18 the ladies played a stableford. The winner was Marcia Fowler, r/up Ruth Woodward, and Jan Baker won the NTP.
Saturday dawned blowing a gale, yet 53 players still went round in a stroke comp. The winner was Steve Abbott with a great 68 nett. A grade nett was won by Scott Polley 72 c/b, r/up Nev Blanch 72, B grade Pete Hinton 70, r/up Daeyl Heywood 71, C grade Alex Kees, r/up James King 75, and Katrina Greenaway was the ladies winner.
The nearest the pin winners were on the 1st/10th Wingham Plaza Butchers Adam Buchtman, 3rd/12th Manning Natural Healing Rudy Brinkman, 4th/13th Barry Brown, 7th/16th Bayview Seafood Garry Masters, 9th/18th Bent on Food Syd Gilfillan.
