Killabakh’s annual “Day in the Country” celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and of the stallholders, artisans and producers who have been invited, many old favourites will be returning, alongside some new and exciting attractions.

One such new exhibitor is local potter Bruce Kerr, who has created magnificent pottery for more than 40 years.
Bruce has recently reopened his successful pottery business which he ran for 20 years from his home at Burrell Creek. All his pots are wood fired and are either wheel thrown or hand built. He makes an interesting range of table ware and bar products, such as kegs and whiskey decanters – perfect for dad for Father’s Day.
Other new stall holders at this year’s Day in the Country include Elaine Turner with her Florasensia Everlasting Floral Creations which include artificial floral wreaths, bridal garlands and table centre pieces; Samantha Everett and Jennifer Dayment’s ‘Sweetpea and Mumma’ with felting, sewing, paper crafts and weaving and Opulent Glow’s hand-made soy candles.
Many popular stall holders will be returning such as Russell Saunders and daughter Raechel with their unique range of Aboriginal Arts and Crafts; Kerry Howard’s glass bead demonstrating; Di Bryson’s Christmas decorations; Carol Saul’s photo cards of local scenes; Gary Flemming’s amazing bromeliads and many more including a great range of plants, preserves, clothing, secondhand books, tools, antiques and old wares.
“The greatest diversity of stalls ever” claims stall convenor Judith Jackson.
“As well as our usual craft and gift items we are looking after the inner person with Koorainghat Berry Farm’s preserve range, Warinyan Farm’s Bottled Culture, Benaroon Farm’s organic turmeric and ginger, curry spices, macadamias and olives.
“You can help make ice cream the old-fashioned way with Kingston Creek Creamery plus new this year the Killabakh Produce stall – all types of locally sourced items.”
A great day out is assured for all the family with over 60 stalls, scarecrow competition, delicious food, all day entertainment, kid’s activities and much more!
Killabakh’s 30th Anniversary Day in the Country will be held on Saturday September 2, 10am – 3pm, just 16km north of Wingham along Comboyne Road. Entry is by gold coin donation which provides the visitor with a program and lucky raffle ticket.
All money raised on the day is used to maintain, enhance and administer facilities for the use of Killabakh residents and members of the wider community.
