Wingham and Valley Vets has a huge breadth of experience in veterinary practice.
The practice employs 19 people, including the six veterinary surgeons.
The 100 year old building that houses the business has also grown over the years, with additions to house state of the art equipment and an equine facility, the only one of its kind in the Manning Valley.
“We often have horses in with bad leg wounds, for example. We look after them until the wound is better.
“Modern technology is so good, it really assists with diagnosing things that we could never previously diagnose in the past we used to refer a lot of animals down to Sydney to specialist hospitals but now we do a lot of it here.”
Assisting in diagnosing is a new digital x-ray machine and in-house blood chemistry analysers.
“The bloods we could still do, but the beauty of having it here is we can get an immediate answer. If you have a really sick dog, within ten minutes you can get a diagnosis. It’s pretty exciting stuff,” Peter enthuses.
Wingham and Valley Vets have a students doing practical work in their final year of study at the University of Sydney’s faculty of veterinary science. Placements have to be booked a year in advance.
