Club minor singles and triples August 5

Paul Swan now enters the final of the minor singles with a convincing victory over Graeme Ireland with a 31-14 result over only 25 ends. Graeme did show some fight early when he led by three shots on the 11th end, however from there on Paul took control to take the match.

Triples – Hunter and Pat Payton playing with Peter Kriss came up against Steve Matheson, Barry Smith and Glenn Gilford with little difference in the game and tied scores on four occasions with Hunter in the lead in three ends. It was not until the 20th end that Steve’s crew took control of the game with a 22-16 win to them.

The star-studded team of Rex Dawson, Col Watson and Jake Hinton accounted for Glen Dennes, Jim Gillogly and Allan Cox 29-17. Glen’s team did have the lead on the 7th end and then they fell in a hole to let Rex’s team take over and a good victory to them.

Brian and Peter Williams with Howard Snelson finished strongly against Dallas and Mark Hammond playing with Peter Brown (sub) to record a 35-16 win. On the 17th end there was only a three shot advantage to Brian’s men but that was the end for Dallas and his team.

It is now up to semi-final stage with Rex to play Steve Matheson and Brian against Michael Clarke.

Wednesday – Dad’s Army

Allan Dodd, a regular for this event, now becomes the assistant to the organisers and the chief checker. Allan collected more money when he, Mick Hollebone and Peter Holden on a countback won against Steve Knott, Dennis Rolfe and Graeme Mansfield. Jack Pie and Kev Coles were a little unlucky to go down in the countback, however they did account for Greg Bartlett and Glenn Gilford 25-18. Brian Williams played a pearler with his final bowl to take the game by a shot. He played with Ben Wolters and Warren Smith against Jim Gillogly, Brad Bell and cheeky Tim Richardson.

Saturday Open

Peter Kriss, Barry Troup (visitor) and Stan Burnell-Jones with their +6 defeated Ben Wolters, Leslie Burnell-Jones and Tim Richardson. The team of men – Daniel Leadbeater, Peter Tindall and Glenn Gilford could not handle their opponents Leonie Gilford, Ellaine Holden and Graeme Mansfield with the result going to Leonie’s lot by six shots. Jack Pie and Jay Nicholson got a +3 result over Chris Kane and Snow Trenchard.
