The headline act this year will be Allan Morgan, a professional performer for the past 40 years, and son of the legendary Chad Morgan.
Allan’s career has seen him move through various musical genres.
From his early days of rock and roll, through to the exploration of jazz and fusion music, he has now turned back to his roots in country and blues music.
He has toured the country performing alongside some of the greats including his father.
Allan is also an accomplished studio session player as well as being a well-respected producer in the music business.
Supporting Allan is his old mate Col Carter, another veteran of the music industry.
Col has toured with various bands over the years and supported artists like Jimmy Little, Geoff Mac, Lola Hurst and Gordon Parsons to name a few.
Col has recently recorded his second solo album.
Co-ordinating the music for this year’s Day in the Country and playing backup to Allan and Col, is long time local Darren Swannack.
Darren performed for many years with the Red Cedar Band, who have always been a popular favourite at Day in the Country.
However the Red Cedar Band has recently disbanded, and Darren was keen to secure another top line act for the event’s 30th anniversary.
“I’m delighted to have Allan and Col come along and perform at this years Day in the Country,” Darren said.
“I’ve enjoyed playing with them in the past and I’m confident that the audience will love their style of music.”
Apart from the all-day entertainment, a great day out for all the family is assured at this year’s event with over 60 stalls, an art exhibition, Scarecrow Competition, delicious food and much more.
Killabakh’s 30th anniversary Day in the Country will be held on Saturday September 2 from 10am to 3pm.
The heart of Killabakh's close-knit community is its heritage hall. It is here the valley comes alive with the annual Day in the Country, just 16 kilometres north of Wingham.
Entry is by gold coin donation which provides the visitor with the day’s program of events as well as the opportunity to win a raffle prize.
All money raised on the day is used to maintain, enhance and administer facilities for the use of Killabakh residents and members of the wider community.
