Wattle Day is also over for another year on August 1. I wish the seasons were following their usual pattern and the wattle blossoms were all out around the area. That would mean hay fever would not still be looming on the horizon when they do come into their glory.
Please remember that Friday is ‘Jeans for Genes Day’. Wear your jeans to help sick children everywhere. Let people known you care!
I’ll take time here to remind everyone from the Caffreys Flat hall committee of their AGM on August 7. It is to be held at McCarthy’s house at 7.30pm. All members are asked to attend as it’s time to elect the new executive for the upcoming year.
The next Reserve Trust meeting is planned for Thursday, August 24 at 7.30pm. We will discuss where we go from here with the rest of the reserve and try to make some of the local residents’ ideas happen. Don’t worry, there’s still lots for you to be involved in. It’s a huge process.
The only big activity planned for Mount George this month is the Back to Mount George/Billy Car Derby Day on Saturday, August 26, where we look forward to all the new models being on show and we see just how much faster they go this year.
There will be stalls and entertainment going all day so it promises to be even better than last year. Do come along and help us all have fun.
For further information get in touch with the school or the secretary of the hall trust, Graeme.
The members of the Reserve Trust wish to say a great bit ‘thank you!’ to all who came along to the working bee last Saturday.
It was a huge success and we managed to get through a mountain of work (or was that a mountain of grass?) by the end of the day.
The oval and the tennis court look as if their mum’s have attacked them with the home hair clippers. If anyone wants some grass mulch for their garden/compost heap they are welcome to take as much as they want.
What a happy, co-operative crew turned up and they all worked like Trojans all day. We hope to have a second working bee where we can do the things we missed out on as soon as possible so we can get things going. More news after the next reserve meeting.
Thanks must go to the cook (or should I say chef?) of the day. The sausage sizzle was very well received along with an ice cold drink at lunch time.
I must also congratulate the parents of the children who came along. They helped where they could and occupied themselves playing handball and cricket the rest of the time. Well done kids.
