The three-way intersection has a history of motor vehicle accidents, and works will be undertaken to improve the asphalt road surface and introduce new line-marking through the NSW Government’s Blackspot funding program.
Contractor PBM/CNC Roads has been engaged by MidCoast Council to complete the project, which is expected to cause some disruption to traffic during peak times.
The worksite requires reducing Wingham Road / Commerce Street to a single lane, with traffic control in place to allow vehicles through in one direction at a time.
In addition, the top end of Old Wingham Road, between Commerce Street and Ritchie Crescent, will be closed. To access Old Wingham Rd from the north, the detour will be via McLennan Street and Dugdale Avenue, while from the south detour via Louis Street.
Motorists are asked to observe all roadworks signage and directions from road crews, and to travel with caution through the area.
