Six friends combined to hold a fundraising morning tea at the home of Frances on Saturday, July 22, to raise the funds required to forward 80 completed Operation Christmas Child boxes overseas.
About 50 ladies from the Manning/Wingham area attended and were treated to a lovely morning tea and a chance to see some beautifully handcrafted cards and other items on sale and learn what goes into the boxes. I helped to fill the boxes by knitting beanies and I came home with another big bag of wool oddments that will soon be made up.
Frances would like to thank everyone for their support saying the target was almost reached.
Bunnings Fundraising Barbecue
Tinonee Memorial Hall Committee, under the presidency of Jan Hayden, will host the barbecue at Bunnings this Saturday and hope for a good response from the public. All funds go towards the continued maintenance of the Hall.
It would be great to see some new young faces join the committee. All are welcome to the next meeting on Monday, August 14, at 7.30pm. More details from Jan 5504 6851 or Pam 6553 1055.
Frosty morning
Tinonee experienced a very heavy frost on Sunday morning. Our place was totally white so I had the camera out to record the event.
Thankfully the day was glorious, and it’s just a few weeks more until we celebrate Spring – where does the year go?
Date for the diary
A date to put down in the diary is Saturday, August 19, when St Matthew’s Ladies Guild will host a Dutch auction at the Church Hall Wingham.
A soup and slice lunch will be on offer for $15 and books of tickets for the items are $2. More details as it gets closer to the date.
Farewell Barbara
St John’s Anglican Church at Raymond Terrace was packed for the funeral of my sister-in-law Barbara Muxlow last Thursday, July 20.
The funeral service was conducted by Reverend Arthur Martin and the eulogy was given by Monica Muxlow.
Barbara’s interment took place at the Raymond Terrace Cemetery followed by the wake at Muree Golf Club where many family members and friends gathered to remember a beautiful lady taken too soon.
Tinonee Red Cross’s 81st AGM
The 81st AGM of Tinonee Red Cross was on Tuesday (yesterday) but at the time of writing these notes I was a day early, so I will have a full report in my column next week.
