The lead changed on 14 occasions with very little difference between scores, except when Howie led by five shots on the 25th end and again by four on the 29th end. It was then that Terry collected eight shots to lead by four.
With two ends remaining in the game Howie led by a single shot with Terry then taking the remaining two ends to go to the next stage in the competition.
In another game Craig (Foodie) Martin led throughout to eliminate Stan Burnell-Jones from the event with 10-shot victory. Stan did get close on the 19th end when the margin was only three shots, however Craig did not let Stan back into the game.
Wednesday – Dad’s Army
Brian Williams had to eat humble pie when he and his team of Dennis Rolfe and Allan Dodd were downed by Steve Knott, Mick Hollebone and (once again) Glenn Gilford to the tune of 27-10. Naturally the big money went to Steve and his crew.
Dallas Hammond, Tony Baker and Andy Leung had a four-shot victory over Peter Holden, Rex Thomas and Tim Richardson.
Jack Pie entered the winners’ team of Greg Bartlett and Stan Burnell-Jones by defeating Jim Gillogly, Hunter Payton and Kev Coles by just two shots.
With rain last Saturday and no games played the minor singles will continue next Sunday with the triples being played on Saturday.
